Top 5 Episodes of the Widowed Parent Podcast in 2023
As 2023 comes to a close, I’m remembering this time seven years ago when I had a headache straight through the holiday period — starting at Thanksgiving and ending the day after January 8, the one-year anniversary of my husband Dennis’s death from brain cancer.
If you’re somewhere in that first year, please know this: it does get better.
And: You’re not alone.
I started the Widowed Parent Podcast back in 2018 to guide the journey of solo parenting after loss.
The first several years featured so many amazing guests:
Grief experts like Hope Edelman and Claire Bidwell Smith
Parenting experts like Julie Lythcott-Haims and Jessica Lahey
Widowed parents like Tembi Locke and Maria Quiban Whitesell
People who experienced early parent loss, like Melissa d’Arabian and Brennan Wood
Terrific people like Dr. BJ Miller, Meghan Riordan Jarvis, Michele Neff Hernandez, Allison Gilbert, and so many more…
And now, I’m thrilled to share the Top 5 Most-Listened-To episodes of 2023:
Ep 135 → Dr. Lisa Damour on the Emotional Lives of Teenagers
Ep 134 → Rabbi Steve Leder on the Beauty of What Remains After a Loved One Dies
Ep 132 → Drs. Elena Lister & Michael Schwartzman on Conversations with Children About Illness, Death, & Loss
Ep 133 → Whitney Kobrin on Self-Love & Self-Compassion
Ep 136 → Heidi Carson Reflects on Widowed Parenting and Finding Meaning Through Rare Disease Advocacy
Here’s a handy Spotify playlist featuring all five of the top episodes of 2023.
